Greetings Friends and Neighbors,

To behold the Brook last evening, swollen and churning with the day’s heavy rainfall, was a moment to be taken in by Awe and Gratitude. Powerful thunder claps emanated from the torrent, the sound made as boulders crashed into one another under the water. But this wasn’t the Brush Brook I was watching – rather a heavily cobbled waterway that flows down from the Great Range of the Adirondacks. I will spend a week with my family at a cabin here along John’s Brook. As such, the Bakery and the Gift Stand will be closed this Friday 8/7. We will be open again Friday 8/14 and look forward very much to seeing you then. Spoken stories from last Friday – of remarkably kind and convivial interactions at the Stand – filled the air as the Farm Team worked together last weekend. Thank you.

We will host a Work Day this coming Sunday 8/9 from 2-5pm. The work is all outside with plenty of opportunity for precautionary distancing. Please join us. We will make Soup and tend to other Farm projects, including stacking Bakery Firewood, the wood that will dry and then burn this winter to bake the bread each week. You can find more information HERE. Preparations for winter begin in earnest as Summer begins to loosen her hold on the Valley.

Many THANKS are in order to all those who responded to our requests for financial support last week. We came quite close to our budget request. As I am away this week, we will send out an update on the August budget next week.

With Great Care,

Adam and the Brush Brook Community Farm Team

Support the Farm & Bakery

The operations of Brush Brook Community Farm & Bakery are maintained by neighborly working hands and financial gifts. Your generous monetary support propels the gift of food forward to those open to receiving it.

Thank you!
